The Obelisk, Colon Theatre, Recoleta Cemetery, May square (surrounded by the cathedral, the Cabildo, and the pink house where the president works) are some of the highlights that we will include in the tour. We will also visit La Boca neighborhood which was seat of immigrants – mainly Italians – and now home of some artists; San Telmo, traditional neighborhood where Tango performances can be seen in many bars and restaurants; the elegant Recoleta, and the most modern: Puerto Madero.
At night we suggest going to a Tango Show.
Breakfast. Day at leisure. We suggest: Gaucho Party excursion. In this tour we will find the gaucho´s county side life and the peaceful and kind town where he lives. That is why the argentine Pampa is part of our tradition.
The asado (barbecue), gaucho´s activities and abilities, dances, and folk games are some of the options to enjoy. Pampa is like this, gauchos, fields, traditions, crafts, a tour to learn and enjoy. This full day tour includes lunch.
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for flight to Mendoza (MDZ). Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Day at leisure. Mendoza is the wine capital of Argentina. Malbec wine is the identity of Argentina and Mendoza is the land of Malbec.
Breakfast. In the morning Visit to wineries. On this tour you will learn about how man has turned a desert into an oasis by means of canals and irrigation ditches. The original system was created by the Huarpes indigenous people, is now run by computerized drip irrigation and has made Argentina one the main wine producers in the world.
We will tour two wineries where enologists will explain the wine-making process and we will participate in a wine tasting session.
Some of the wineries involved in this tour are López, Zuccardi, Lagarde, Don Bosco, Flichman, Di tommaso, Wainert, Viñas del Cerno, Reiter.
Breakfast. Day at leisure. We suggest High Andes tour along Mendoza River. This excursion takes us from Mendoza city to the borderline with Chile along paved roads where we can enjoy tourist services, and which runs bordering the Mendoza river.
One of the sights on the way is the Potrerillos Valley Dam.
Uspallata is a wide valley whose urban center offers a variety of places to eat and to stay for the night. It used to be the settlement of the native Huarpe people in pre-Hispanic times. A short distance away there are some historical constructions that, despite being made of clay bricks, are kept in very good condition. They are called Las Bóvedas. The historical importance of these ancient rough buildings is the fact that they once were the site where the cannons and weapons used in the Chilean Independence War were manufactured.
Our next stops are at small villages: Picheuta, Polvaredas and Punta de Vacas (from which you easily reach the famous Los Penitentes village.
Los Penitentes is principally a ski center located 167km from Mendoza city. It is open for skiing from June to August and a great site for adventure activities throughout the year. The chairlift will allow you to have a privileged panoramic view of the area.
Further ahead, we will reach Puente del Inca (Inca’s Bridge) at 2720 meters above sea level. The Las Cuevas River has bored the mountain and formed a natural bridge where thermal water also flows. Nearby is the Cemetery of Mountain Climbers. There is a magnificent viewpoint a short distance from the border which allows you to see the splendor of the ACONCAGUA Mount. A dirt road stemming from the International Road leads to the beautiful Horcones lagoon and the Aconcagua Provincial Park.
Back on the International Road you will see Customs House at Horcones and right up ahead, almost at the border with Chile, Las Cuevas. It is a small town built following European style at 3200 meters above sea level.
As we move on and right before reaching the International Tunnel that leads to Chile, there is another road. By taking it, and only if the weather conditions are favorable, you will be able to go up to the Cristo Redentor (The Redeemer) monument set at an altitude of 4200 meters. This monument symbolizes the Argentine-Chilean fraternity. The same road is used to return to Mendoza city.
Breakfast. Transfer to the Airport for flight to Bariloche (BRC). Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure.
Breakfast. In the morning small Circuit tour. This circuit is a traditional option that takes only half a day. Generally it is the first excursion one does and thus, the first contact with the landscape of the region. It is approximately 60 kilometers long and it begins and ends in San Carlos de Bariloche, following lake Nahuel Huapi’s waterfront along a paved road called Avenida Ezequiel Bustillo. Lake Nahuel Huapi is the biggest lake of the whole region. It has a surface of 55.700 hectares. All along the way, you will be accompanied by it as well as by the Andean peaks and the opposite shores in the distance.
As we begin this circuit you will notice well-kept gardens and the typical construction style consisting mainly of wood and local stone. Some belong to pioneers and some to institutions such as the nautical club. As we go along, the landscape offers different aspects of the lake, the type of forest begins to vary intermingled with cypress and maitén trees and in the summer time these colors are accentuated by the flowers of wild rose, wild berries, Spanish broom and other wild species. At kilometer 17 we will make a stop at the chairlift of Cerro Campanario, which will let us have a magnificent view from 1050 m.a.s.l. As we continue we will reach the entrance to the San Pedro Peninsula and at kilometer 24, we will be at the Llao Llao peninsula. Here our attention will be drawn to the St. Eduard’s Chapel, Puerto Pañuelo and the link grounds of the Llao Llao Hotel strategically located between lakes Moreno and Nahuel Huapi. At this point the landscape is a conjunction of colors and shapes that give the Nahuel Huapi National Park its well-deserved fame. .
Then comes the orchards of the Swiss settlers, the panoramic or lookout point on lake Moreno, and Laguna El Trebol. A few kilometers further the road links again with Avenida Bustillo and we will be heading back to the city of San Carlos de Bariloche.
Breakfast. Day at leisure. We suggest Navigation to Victory Island and Arrayanes Forrest. This trip begins at Puerto Pañuelo located on the Lao llao Peninsula on lake Nahuel Huapi’s watefront. The island is 11 kilometers away and the boat makes this distance in about 30 minutes. All the way to Puerto Anchorena we will be awed by the colour of the water, the Andean peaks and the abundant vegetation. This landscape was transformed by diverse geological phenomena along the course of millions of years.
Once on the island, our suggestion is to spend time trekking it. The place must have been inhabited for thousands of years. Proof of this, are the smoke stained caves and the rupestrian paintings. There is also a noticeable mêlée of fauna and flora. The native species such as cypresses coihues and ñires cohabit with huge sequoias, thujas, eucalyptus, oak and pinecones. Something similar happens with the fauna. Such species as the native “pudu pudu” or dwarf deer cohabits with the wild boar or jabalí, European deer, pheasant and a variety of birds. This island is 20 kilometers long and 4 kilometers wide with a total surface of 3.710 hectares.
From Isla Victoria we will continue the trip by boat towards Puerto Quetrihue located to the south of the peninsula that bares the same name. This trip also takes 30 minutes and the most outstanding feature is that we will land at a pure and dense arrayán forest. The arrayán is a tree that has a cinnamon brown bark. This bark detaches itself in strips revealing lighter layers of the same hue.
The arrayán tree has round small dark green leaves. Near the end of the summer the trees cover themselves with small white flowers which later turn into round black brilliant fruit. This, together with the fact that it is almost the only tree specimen in the area, gives the surroundings a strange coloring. These trees have thrived thanks to the dampness of the habitat. In the afternoon return to Bariloche.
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure.
